Informative and enjoyable Really enjoyed our walk! Our guide was very informative and was great with our 1 year old. Despite the rain, we loved every minute of it.

Marwick Head Walk Megan guided us along Marwick Head and shared fascinating insights about the seabirds as well as the local plant life. The three-hour walk flew by and was both enjoyable and informative. We highly recommend Orkney Walks to anyone visiting the Orkney Islands.

Puffins Megan's 1 day Puffin Experience on Westray was great. We saw Puffins up close, and learned about Puffins and the other seabirds in the area and while on the ferry. Megan had spare binoculars for us. We also learned about the wild flowers while walking to the cliffs. We also visited a beautiful sandy beach. We learned how precious and fragile the existence of seabirds is. Megan is passionate about the environment.

Fantastic access to hundreds of puffins Our trip to Westray to see puffins amongst many other species of birds was really successful. The natural feature of the Castle of Burrian provides a great nesting spot for hundreds of puffins and we saw so many of them extremely close up. Our guide Megan was impressively knowledgeable of all the flora and fauna we saw and shared this in a friendly and humourous way. It was a great chance to slow down and really absorb the detail of the stunning surroundings of the island of Westray. Megan is completely in tune with her natural environment and offers you a chance to get onto this wavelength too. Would recommend.

Amazing birdwatching in the Orkney sunshine We had a wonderful day spent with Megan on Westray at two very different seabird colonies, watching the kittiwakes, guillemots, fulmars and gannets at one place then over to a large puffin colony for the second. Megan was very knowledgeable and really knew not just where to find the birds but when and how to avoid the larger groups around in July. She had prepared a detailed itinerary and personalised folder for us, booked the ferries and sorted out all the other admin ahead, so all we had to do we meet her and enjoy the birds. We even managed to do this a a few hours of precious sunshine. Amazing!!

Guided walk on Graemsay: birds, plants, insects and more Megan guided us around Graemsay and showed us wildlife of all sorts. The skylarks were numerous and stunning. In a disused quarry we saw damselflies. Megan explained everything from microhabitats of butterflies to big context like the impact of cruise ships or salmon farming. We would join one of her tours again and can really recommend her.

Memorable Day in Orkney I went on the Shapinsay and ultimate Puffin tour with Megan. She is very knowledgeable and made me feel comfortable as a beginner with the birds. It’s obvious that she loves what she does and takes extreme pride in organizing the tours. This was definitely a highlight of my time in Orkney. Ray

Must do! Fantastic experience A fantastic experience with Megan. We did the evening walk and saw so many birds including puffins. Megan is so passionate about wildlife, she was a joy to spend time with. We learned so much about birds, flowers, wildlife and also Orkney. It was fun, relaxed and informative. Our 17yo son was in his element getting so many great photo opportunities. Thank you Megan! Highly recommend.

Exceptional knowledge and direction

Mull Head Wildlife Walk

My family and I recently enjoyed a morning walk with Megan through the Mull Head Nature Preserve. The scenary was beautiful and we could not have enjoyed our visit as much withhout Megan’s exceptional knowledge and direction. During our visit we identified 36 species of birds, 16 flower species, 3 insect species and 1 atlantic grey seal. We were fortunate to see lots of puffins and a short-eared owl, highlights of our trip to Scotland. Our only regret was we didn’t stay longer and get to explore more areas with Megan. If you travel to Orkney, taking a wild walk with Megan should be at the top of your list of things to do.

One of the best things we did on our trip!

Seal Pup Walk

We had an amazing walk with Megan, she was so knowledgeable and friendly. She knew every bird and pointed them out as we walked. We walked along the cliffs past lots of bays with seals and seal pups which was such a great experience. At the end of the walk Megan had made a pack with info on the area and all the animals we had seen which was so thoughtful. I would definitely recommend booking a walk for your Orkney trip. It was one of the best things we did on our trip! Thanks Megan! Hopefully we will be back one day.

A Lovely Walk up Gruf Hill

Had a lovely walk with Megan up Gruf Hill in Orphir today. As an Orkney local, this was somewhere I hadn’t been before, so having a guided walk was a great way to explore and get my bearings in the area. Megan’s knowledge of the plants and wildflowers was excellent and she has a relaxed, friendly manner sure to put anyone at ease. A very enjoyable morning.

A Lovely Walk

Lovely walk with Megan today round Orphir Bay. Looking at it on the map I thought we would be round in an hour – but 3 hours flew by! There was so much to see and hear (and sometimes taste). Megan is a terrific guide: very calm, quiet and constantly alert to the unexpected (like the hares boxing on the hill behind us). She has a deep knowledge of the place, and it was a real pleasure to go out with her.

A Fab Evening Walk!

Megan took us on a fab evening walk up Marwick Head, she is so knowledgable and interesting, taking time to answer our questions while still being observant with all going on around us in the air just in case we missed something. We saw so many seabirds and some peregrine falcons, we definitely weren’t expecting that! Will be back in touch for our next trip to Orkney and will definitely recommend Wild Orkney Walks. Thankyou Megan 💖

A Fabulous Day Out

Nothing could be better than sitting by the loch watching a short eared owl hunting, other than seeing an otter. How you spotted the otter Megan I will never know, but I’m really glad you did!! It was a fabulous day out, thank you.
