Very Interesting Walks
My wife and I had two very interesting walks with Megan during our short time on Orkney last week. Both were very well organised with plenty of useful information provided about what to wear, what to bring and easy instructions about where to meet beforehand. Although both walks were nearly three hours long, they were very easy going and capable for most abilities. Also, Megan is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about all the wildlife in Orkney, which added much to the enjoyment of the walks. Therefore, I would have no hesitation in recommending these walks to anyone wanting to learn more about the flora and fauna of these beautiful islands – thank you Megan!

Yesnaby Walks
It is really a big difference to walk with Megan instead of having a walk alone. She opens your eyes for the beauty of wild life, takes the time to answer all questions and adjusts to your own preferences and walking speed. So also suitable for 60+ … 🙂

Thank you Megan for imparting so much
We were lucky enough to spend 3 hours on the cliff tops with Megan who shared her knowledge of the flora and fauna of Orkney with us. She pointed out puffins so we learned how to distinguish them from Razor bills for example ! So interesting to learn about Stoat eradication on the islands.
Thank you Megan for imparting so much.

This tour was the highlight of our vacation
We were thrilled to find that Megan would do a private tour for three people. She fitted the tour to 3.5 hours and what we wanted to see (as much wildlife as possible) A few days before she sent a preview of our route. She had routed us so that we would miss road construction, giving us more time to see things. She is incredibly knowledgeable and eager to share her knowledge. We saw 36 bird species, 9 different wild flowers and 2 butterflies. Megan is always looking and listening. We saw Short-eared Owls and Brown Hares because she saw them first. The Loons Listening Wall and Loons hide were favorites. Lots of birds calling and some with their young. She gave my sister a great introduction t0 the world of birds. I think she has the” birding bug” now. This tour was the highlight of our vacation to Scotland and the Orkney Islands.

Excellent knowledge of a local patch
You just can’t beat excellent knowledge of a local patch when wildlife watching, which is exactly what you get from Megan. Especially when the wildlife of Orkney is so different to what you’re used to back home (which is way down south in Norfolk for us!). We did the Mull Head walk with Megan in early May, which despite being windy, treated us to some great sights of sea birds and summer migrants, my highlights definitely being the arctic and great skuas, which we couldn’t have hoped to have spotted without Megan’s help! Puffins were another highligh, and seeing the bright red maws of tysties, which again Megan was brilliant at spotting those that were calling, so we could see inside their bills! Megan also shared with us some of the key ecological challenges on Orkney and generally gave us a much better sense of what was happening in the landscape. We couldn’t recommend her enough!

A must for any lover of nature
Wonderful day walking in Flotta with Megan – even in less-than-ideal weather there’s always something to see, and Megan knows exactly what to look out for. Megan’s enthusiasm and knowledge are fabulous and we had a great time walking and spotting wildlife, birds and plants with her. A must for any lover of nature visiting Orkney.
