Wholehearted recommendation

Mull Head Wildlife Walk

My wife and I enjoyed the Mull Head Wildlife Walk with Megan a few weeks ago and I can only second all of the other glowing reviews for Megan. We chose this walk as our first activity on Orkney, the day after our arrival, and couldn’t have hoped for a better introduction to the island(s), its environment, wildlife, and so forth. As others have written, Megan’s knowledge is truly impressive, and the walk set us up brilliantly for the rest of our stay in the islands. Megan also sent us a followup email listing the flora and fauna we had seen on our walk: excellent “after-sales service”. Wholehearted recommendation.

A wonderful walk

Evening Wildlife Walk

We had a wonderful walk with Megan last Wednesday evening at Marwick head. She pointed out so many birds we would not have spotted – including Puffins – and we had such a great time at the look out point with Fulmars and Gannets swirling around us!

Megan is also extremely knowledgeable about all the beautiful wild flowers and most excitingly found an adult ghost moth which had arrived unusually early in Orkney. Everything was very well organized and friendly – we would highly recommend!

Wonderful birding morning

We had a wonderful birding morning with Megan at RSPB Loons, the reflecting wall and the hide. She shared her knowledge of what we saw, what we didn’t see (yet!) and where to explore around Orkney and Hoy. We thoroughly recommend spending time with her – you will learn so much!

Megan’s knowledge of flora and fauna was mind-blowing

A Stroll around Shapinsay

I’m embarrassingly behind on writing this review but wasn’t going to give up on posting it as Megan is every bit the gem that I was hoping for.

I did the Shapinsay stroll with her and at the time of booking it was only myself. Unlike other tour operators she will go out (and she means it) even if it is just you. In this case, however, there were two other people that joined and it was a lovely day.

Megan’s knowledge of flora and fauna was mind-blowing. We’d be walking along and she would spot the tiniest little flower and tell us all about it. She definitely knows her stuff where birds are involved and I learned a ton. She also is genuinely easy-going and is intent on everyone having a positive experience….which I know we certainly did.

I can’t recommend her enough to anyone who wants to experience more of Orkney than what you would get by driving a car around, or really if you just want to have a nice walk and learn about the environment around you. Book without hesitation!

Highly recommended

Hidden Gem Walk

Highly recommended. We did the hidden gem walk on a sunny Saturday morning in May. We didn’t have our own transport and Megan was excellent in providing options, bus timetable, etc. Really well prepared. It’s amazing how with Megan’s focus you pay attention to lots of wonderful creatures that we often overlook in daily life.

A Fabulous Wildlife Tour

Megan gave us a fabulous wildlife tour of Orkney last Monday. She took the trouble to find out what we wanted to see and made sure we saw it – Hen Harriers dancing, Merlins diving, Ravens being mobbed – all very spectacular and exciting. Her ability to spot and identify birds that we hadn’t even noticed, amazed us. And she answered my  many questions in great detail – I learned such a lot!

An extremely knowledgeable and lovely guide!
